1. NEC, Birmingham 1985 (Last World Dream) - it was also the very first concert I ever went to. I ended up sat a few seats away from Thelma and John on the one side of me, and to the seats the other side was Jan along with other members of the Risk Fanclub staff.

2. Old Rep, Birmingham 1993 (Synth Tour)

3. Ronnie Scotts, Birmingham 1999 (People Tour)

It was even later for me.

1. Birkenhead Pacific Road 2006

My first Howard gig and I was completely buzzing for weeks afterwards. I was a teeny bit young for HJ in the eighties, but I was familiar with his work. I went along to the gig with no expectations other than that he might be a bit distant to the crowd (no idea why - sorry Howard!). I couldn't have been more wrong. I became an instant huge fan. Best gig of my life, and the atmosphere was incredible. So good in fact, that of course they brought a full recording rig to...

2. Birkenhead Pacific Road 2007

Perhaps not quite as good by the tiniest fraction. I think that because it was being recorded as an album HJ was...well, maybe not tense, but being more...careful...than he might otherwise be. Nevertheless a superbly good concert and I fell in love with "Straight Ahead" before he'd even finished the song.

3. Andy's Gig at Brooklands, Barnsley

I loved the concept of a fan promoted gig - the whole 'by fans, for fans' meant that it would have been damned rude not to go. Great, great show, and I remember that Robin was absolutely on fire that night. Lovely meet and greet from HJ afterwards even though he was tired - well played sir!

I've been to 30+ Howard Jones gigs in 2 countries(US & UK-twice!) and 6 states (Utah, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, and South Carolina) since 1989. I would have gone to more in the early days had I been old enough to drive....But the first 3 shows I have been to are the following:

(1) July 1989-Park West, Park City, Utah (30 mi E of SLC)- Cross That Line-would have been my 4th HoJo gig had it been closer to SLC (and I would have gone every time he was in town before that), but because I wasn't old enough to drive before that time and my parents hated the parking at that venue, I didn't get to go to any before this one. They said I could go on two conditions:That they didn't have to drive and that I went with someone else. Before 1989 none of my friends were old enough to drive either... But when the time came to see Howard for the 1st time, it was me and 5 guys going. How's THAT for a date! The only downside to that was I had to buy ALL the tickets for everyone (and that was tough on minimum wage, which was $3.35/hour...and tickets were probably $25 each after fees & such), and because there was so many of us, the closest we could get was the very back row of the reserved section :( We also missed Midge Ure opening on account of my friend's car breaking down and then having to take another one of his friends' cars instead (not complaining about that-it was a NICE car - I'd take a new Beamer vs a ratty VW Bug any day-at least when it comes to reliability anyway! Too many times have I been on a trip or just around town and the car dies in dumb places...) Although I was bummed about missing Midge's set, at least we weren't The Tree People-that section on the lawn at the very top of the hill was a lot further away from the stage than we were.

(2) April 1992- Kingsbury Hall, SLC, UT. - The Acoustic Show w/Carole Steele - The 1st time Howard hasn't played all the way up in Park City (YAY! for me, because I was a poor college student by this time and couldn't afford a car, so I came from even FURTHER away to go see Howard-90 miles north of SLC,TWICE- once to be first in line at 6 am in the morning at the Kingsbury Hall box office the day they went on sale and then again on the day of the show-I just took the Greyhound Bus and spent the weekend at my parent's house.) I didn't get front row, but I was OK with that, because about 2 hours before the show, I ran into Howard outside the venue :)

(3) 30 October 1993 Saltair, SLC UT- Working In The Backroom- It was REALLY cold outside on the shores of the Great Salt Lake (not to mention kind of stinky...) and it seems we were standing out there for a LONG time before they opened the doors (in an equally long line to get in I might add!). That venue isn't so great either-pretty run down and full of spiders, despite being rebuilt at least 3 times. I don't think it is meant to be out there-too many natural disasters have wiped it away (floods, fires, and who knows what's next), and yet they rebuild it anyway (kind of like those people who live in tornado alley in mobile homes and every year a big tornado destroys it and they put it in the same place one the wind dies down or the people who build homes or put ranches in the middle of a flood plain and wonder why their investment property gets washed away every few years...) Anyway, no one I really want to see plays out there anyway, so I suppose I won't really miss it if it goes away. Thelma & John came along on that tour with Howard, and I bought a T-shirt, a limited edition & numbered CD as well as a sticker from Thelma-there is a typo on those t-shirts though-it has Howard listed as playing both on the the 30th and 31st of October on the back of the shirts...maybe it'll be worth something someday (maybe not-I wore that shirt A LOT- I still actually have it and even wear it sometimes, but black t-shirts aren't very practical-too hot to wear in the summer and too cold to wear in the winter (though throw a thermal on underneath & it works fine.) Plus it gets noticeably covered with dog & cat fur, so most of the time it stays in the closet...

Well, I'm only 15 right now.

I've only seen him twice. :(

1. The Forum Theater in Melbourne, March 2007. (I was only 12!)

2. The Palms @ Crown in Melbourne, February 2009. (I was 14.)

3. ....*Still To Come*.... :D

I was the very first person in a line of about 200 people at the meet-and-greet this year at the Palms @ Crown. :)

Howard recognised me, and he knew my name without me telling him :)
We had a brief conversation, and he signed my Human's Lib t-shirt.
He also signed a HOJO article i had.

And i got to give him a BIGG hug!

It was so amazingg! <3
