Seems very nice! NOT a boring remastered reissue. Will suit great in my HoJo collection. Will buy one at the O2 concert.
Well done, lads!

I think the box set should not be limited to only 1000 just in case more people want it that can't go to the show...

I think the packaging looks excellent!! Wish I could be at the show, but simply cannot spend $1000+ for this indulgence...Why Look For The Key? should be very cool to see live!!

I can't even begin to say how disappointed I am after months of waiting to see how these would be released. Great packaging but no bonus material unless you attend the gig, which I'm not. You only have to look at acts like a-ha and U2 to see how a remastered reissue should be dealt with to maximise sales and satisfy fans.

Had these been released with bonus material that was previously unavailable on CD I'd have snapped them up. If there's a change of heart and the bonus disc is included for non-gig sales then I'll still purchase but in their current format I won't be going near them which is a disappointment for me and lost revenue for dtox. Instead I'll wait for the 12" material to be released next year and hope that there's a change in stance for the proposed remasters of the remaining Warner albums.

I can see both sides of the argument for why fans would want extra tracks added to the albums and the reasoning behind straight forward replicating of the original CD tracklistings.

Keeping the albums in their original CD tracklisting forms means that extra tracks don't overshadow the main albums or make them too long to listen to. I've got many remastered CDs in my collection that have no bonus tracks added like Peter Gabriel, Cocteau Twins and Japanese remasters of Prefab Sprout and these work well. On some remasters the extra content can be too much to listen to, even for the most hardcore of fans.

However, I think the way that Howard's reissues will pan out, may work out well with separately themed releases of B-sides, live recordings and remix compilations. I guess the other studio albums will have the same identical tracklistings - this will work well if "The 12" Album" is done for those who never managed to get CD copies. (BTW there is no mention of the 12" Album being reissued - Is it going to be reissued?)

I like the way that the Cocteau Twins did their "Lullabies To Violaine" Volume 1 and 2 releases which neatly brought together all their singles and EP releases or like how EMI repackaged their Singles Box Sets into 3CD sets (such as Duran Duran, Marillion, Blondie, Stranglers, Morrissey etc.). Perhaps a similiar release could be done with Howard's singles?

I totally agree with everything you say. Those U2 and A-ha remasters were excellent and why these two are being released as bog standard single CD'S is bizarre. We have been waiting months for news of these releases since they were first announced and many people were expecting double cds crammed full of extras but to no avail. I just wonder what the reasoning behind this decision was maybe to get more money out of people. :(

On the subject of the The 12" Album why couldn't they have made at least Humans Lib a double and put that album on the second disc with the proper extended versions and not the edits that are on the original. I take you point about the Cocteau Twins but they had a box set of all their singles released 20 years ago as well as Lullabies To Violaine a few years back. I know for a fact regarding Prefab Sprout that Paddy McAloon doesn't want any of his back catalogue b sides released which is a bummer i know Peter Gabriel doesn't seem to be interested either. Regarding EMI i hope to hell they don't get a hold of Howard's material after there recent disasters with those Spandau Ballet and Duran Duran remasters.

Hi

I dont know why this confusion has happened as there are 1000 boxsets at the show and 1000 box sets via the online shop - both with the bonus CD.

Hope that clarifies it

Hi

Not at all - that is not the reason.

We had originally planned to add a bonus CD of extras, but for one reason or another it was not possible at this stage as they would have been incomplete. Some tapes did not materialise, track listings on them were incorrect, so the wrong data was on the tapes
I think people would rather a complete Cd of 12" and Extended versions rather than have then dotted over several releases.
Unfortunatly, there is no pleasing everyone, but I think in the long run you will see the benefit of having CD's compiled with complete groupings of tracks.

The Bonus CD with Humans Lib / Dream is a great CD. It features live studio tracks from The Oxford Road Show which has not been aired since 1985 and have never been released before.

Regards

Glenn
